Join us for a book talk with Seth Stephens-Davidowitz on his latest book - Who Makes the NBA?: Data-Driven Answers to Basketball's Biggest Questions.
During his presentation, Seth will discuss his answers to questions like:
- Are clutch shooters born or made?
- What advantages do NBA-playing fathers pass on to their sons?
- What percent of 7-footers are in the NBA?
- Why do some countries produce so many more NBA players than others?
- What players are systematically undervalued in the draft?
- How much do NBA coaches matter?
- What exactly do the best coaches do?
He also gives a fascinating angle to his book by the use of Chat GPT as an aid for data analyses; therefore, his talk will also include a discussion about the usefulness of these new AI tools.
This event is co-sponsored by DISSC, Institution for Social and Policy Studies (ISPS), Yale Institute for Foundations for Data Science (FDS), and The Tobin Center for Economic Policy.
RSVP by 3/26/25. Breakfast will be served.
The first 20 in person attendees will receive a free copy of the book.
