This presentation examines the impact of GLP-1 medications, like Ozempic and Wegovy, on consumer food purchases. Drawing on comprehensive Numerator panel and survey data, Leo’s recent paper reveals how these appetite-suppressing medications are reshaping shopping behaviors across the United States.

During the presentation, Leo will also discuss his work at Numerator - a leading consumer intelligence company, providing insights into modern shopping behavior through their multi-channel consumer panel and survey platform. The Numerator data, which is available to Yale researchers through DISSC, captures detailed purchase information across retailers, including detailed product information, price data, and payment methods for diverse product categories from groceries to electronics, and pairs this data with detailed demographic and psychographic information about consumers to understand not only what consumers are buying, but who is doing the buying and why.
