AI Foundations Series (Forthcoming)
The DISSC AI Foundations series equips Yale researchers with practical skills for integrating AI into their data-analysis workflows. Participants work inside a secure, sandboxed Docker environment with Claude Code, VS Code, and R pre-installed — so data never leaves Yale’s AWS infrastructure and is never used for model training. The container also restricts Claude Code’s access to the project folder, preventing accidental modification of files elsewhere on the computer.
The audience for these are faculty, postdocs, and graduate students.
Format: Two 45-minute sessions
Session 1: Environment setup & tool orientation
Session 2: Hands-on research exercise on real data— prompting, code generation, iterative analysis, visualization, debugging
Also Covers: Claude Code memory, custom skills (agentic coding), settings
Pre-requisites: None. No prior AI or CLI experience required.
Languages - R, adaptable to Python, Stata
Future dates for the AI Workshop series will be sent to interested faculty and staff by emailing us at dissc@yale.edu.
Virtual AI Brown Bag Series
DISSC offers virtual brown bag discussions during the academic year for research support facing staff to explore and discuss use cases of machine learning and LLMs. Other members of the Yale community are welcome to attend. Contact molly.aunger@yale.edu to join the call.
